» Churches in Barcelona , May 9th, 2005
Barcelona, Spain is probably my favorite place on earth… for its art… its architecture… its youth… lifestyle and culture. I’ve been going to Barcelona every year for the past 6 years for festivals, judging, shows, and holiday.
I’ve lived in New York since 1992 and have never been inside the Empire State Building, nor have I been to the Statue of Liberty… maybe I should. Because when I play “tourist” in other countries, I find some pretty amazing content to work with.
These are some shots inside a church in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona.

I love this shot for its color… the pale blue against gold.

As you’ll see in the next series of shots… wall designs and motifs can be an amazing resource for new forms.

That Church in the Gothic Quarter had these Skulls carved all over the floor.
The last picture caught my eye. I have been playing around with it in Illustrator. What’s the story behind it and what is the thing above the skull? Where exactly did you shoot the picture?
Thanks,
James E.
